Zpacks Duplex – spruce green – used 2 nights. This is my very lightly used (2 nights total) spruce green Zpacks Duplex tent. The spruce green is the thickest Dyneema fabric (previously called cuben fiber) that Zpack offered in their plex tents series. This tent is 3 years old and has been stored indoors for its entire life. This tent comes with all of the pre-attached and measured/trimmed guylines for a perfect pitch. It does not come with tent stakes. It does have its original spruce green stuff sack though. There is no footprint made for these tents, because the bathtub floor is durable enough to use without one. The weight of this tent fabric is the old. 74 oz/sqyd, compared to the new. 66 ox/sqyd that Zpacks uses on the plex tents now. It is much more durable and provides more privacy because it is thicker. You do add a couple ounces overall on the tent versus the new fabric, but it will last longer. The actual weight on my scale for this tent, including tent/guylines/stuffsack is exactly 22.83oz. This tent requires 2 trekking poles or any poles that are 48 long. 8 tent stakes (not included) pitch it the best. 6 gets the job done in the corners and front/rear, but the other 2 on the head/foot walls give you even more clearance when laying down with a pad under you. This is technically a 2 person tent, but is the favorite of lightweight backpackers who prefer extra room for themselves and gear. This is a dual entrance tent, so ventilation is amazing. Also, the dual vestibules are awesome for gear storage and for cooking during the rain.
