Tent and rainfly are in great condition both inside and out. Super lightweight (just under 3 lbs packed). It’s a non-freestanding tent, but you probably already know that : i just re-installed new elastic bands inside the poles, so the tension is great and will last a long, long time.
I really like the tent, but personally prefer a freestanding one. Check online for its specifications. This is a classic design from a company that really knows its outdoor design & engineering.
Let me know if you have any questions.

I have had this tent since it was new and have taken very good care of it. There are no rips tears or repairs, all the stakes are there, the netting is perfect, the zipper works, it is water proof both top and bottom and the bungee cord in the folding poles works.
The original instructions (crude as they were in the day) are there, as well as a stuff sack and a bag for the poles and stakes. The inside dimensions are as follows. Head and foot ends=3′ 4. The first photo is not this tent but is included to show the tent’s ability to be used even in the snow; but three seasons is a better use given that one needs to get stakes into the ground. However, i have woken up to the scene in the first photo on several fall mornings.
This fine old tent needs to be out of my closet and back involved in adventures.

An all-mesh body eliminates weight while keeping campers cool on warm summer nights. And for taller campers in need of a little extra space, the vapor light 2 xl offers a full 10 inches of extra length and weighs in at a feathery 3-pounds, 12-ounces. This tent is like new. I bought it in 2007 and slept in it outside one time. I bought it to keep on my motorcycle as “plan b” sleeping arrangements, in case i couldn’t find lodging on long trips. Otherwise, it has been kept indoors, rolled up in the storage bag. But i’m not riding any more, and need something bigger for family trips.
Hoping to find a good home for it where it will be well used. When light and fast camping for one is what youâre after, the 2-pound, 11-ounce sierra designs light year 1 has you covered. And 20-square feet of interior space, the light year 1 is easy to pitch.
And offers a ton of room for you and your gear.

For sale: vintage sierra designs bivy tent. This is a rather unique item: it employs a single fiberglass pole to form an awning over the user’s head during rain/snow storms. When you do not want to use the awning, you fold it back into its storage sleeve, take apart the pole and slip it into its storage sleeve, and you have a typical bivi sack. I used this but a single time, as i have continued to use my old sack for most alpine trips. The sac is in mint condition– no stains, holes, ragged places or unsightly blemishes. It is not new, but it has spend most of its life in a dark and dry closet. Note, as well, that the sac also features a mosquito net for the face (it can be detached too). It comes with the original stuff sack too.

For sale: 1990’s era sierra designs ’super flash’ tent. This is a tent that i used for guiding in the sierra– it has been used but never abused. It is still a serviceable tent with no rips, tears, flaws or gross dirty bits. It has done service primarily as a base-camp tent for alpine rock climbing. Block to the tent-flys, and the tent fly on this tent has also been ‘re-proofed’ once. At present it keeps the water out, but as these tents age, it becomes necessary to apply new waterproofing about every couple of years or so.
This tent has withstood heavy snow and high winds on ski tours, as well. Again, no damage– but this is not a new or like-new tent; it has been used but always cared for.

Listing is for a sierra designs tiros assault cd, 4 season convertible mountaineering tent. I’ve been the only owner of this tent and researched extensively before i bought it. An internet search will bring up dozens of great reviews for this tent and none of them do it justice. It is rock solid in wind and snow, and roomy enough for two people to wait out a storm.
All the screens are flawless, zippers move smoothly, poles are straight and the shock cords inside contract well, all the stake loops an grommets are intact, all the pole clips are intact, and there are no stains or mildew. Extras include, the footprint, additional snow stakes, a gear attic, and attached guy lines. All the oem stuff sacks are included. This is a used tent, so there are some signs of usage to be aware of.
The main stuff sack has some wear from general abrasion and one small l-shaped snag (pictured), one of the plastic clips to fasten the rolled up screen is broken (pictured, i usually kept the doors zipped so i’m not sure how this broke), there is a small hole on one seam near a pole clip (pictured, i did this early on and it never got bigger and was covered by the fly so i never felt compelled to fix it). I haven’t used this for a few years as it is intended and next summer i’ll be carrying everything for the kids, and i’m looking into a lighter/larger 3-season tent.

Sierra designs – “assailant” – 1 person, 4 season tent. Sierra designs assailant tent (spring 2007). Burly, waterproof to 18,000mm, and with a breathability rating of 24,000mm, drizone fabric makes the assailant by sierra designs a superior solo shelter.
