The Mountain Man Wall Tent is a basic tent with no modern hardware. These tents are made particularly for rendezvous and reenactment enthusiasts. The eaves have brass grommets, the door overlaps and has canvas ties on the inside and out to secure the door. Cotton stake loops are standard. Wood stakes, rope tighteners, rope and carrying bag are also included. Poles are not included. Included with the Mountain Man model tent. We also have Fire treated tents available. 5′ Sidewalls – A full 5′ sidewall provides much more headroom within your tent. Double Layer of Canvas on Ridge – Reinforces tent ridge. This is very important when using a lodge pole frame. A wall tent roof will tear or rip easily if the lodge pole is not smooth when the pole is being pushed through the ridge poles openings. Reinforced Eaves with Webbing – Our reinforced eaves have 2 black webbing that runs the entire length of the eave. Steel D-Rings Along Eaves – The d-rings are featured every 3′. This is a much stronger system than tents with metal grommets pressed into the eaves. D-rings cannot pop out, grommets can. Nylon Loops at Base of Sidewalls and Doors – These loops, which are featured every 3′, allow you to stake your walls and doors down to keep them held taut. 200′ of Poly Rope and 20 Tensioners – Used to guy your tent out. Never keep the tent stored away wet for longer than two days otherwise fungus can affect the canvas which will then create permanent marks. The canvas has been impregnated with an anti-fungal waterproofing agent that is effective for up to 60 weeks of use (so a year). Once you have passed this period of camping you may need to re-proof certain areas that appear more translucent. Maintenance starts when setting up your Bell Tent. If a Bell Tent has not been set up correctly uneven forces will pull on the canvas. This could eventually lead to damage. To ensure your tent stays set up correctly daily guy rope maintenance is necessary. It is in your interest to keep the canvas as clean as possible and remove stains when created. Dust and dried mud is best removed once the canvas is dry by brushing with a clean hard brush like a floor scrubbing brush. The lifespan of your tent is very dependent upon camping conditions such as air pollution, ultraviolet radiation, natural dirt (bird droppings, sand, salt water) and domestic dirt (cooking stains, soda, wine, sun cream). Fungus and stains Due to insufficient ventilation, fungus can affect the canvas. It is important to store your tent dry so no fungus or other stains can appear. If you have to temporarily store the tent wet be sure to remove the mud and dirt from the bottom of the tent put your tent back out to dry within 48 hours. In order to limit fungus and stains on your tent: Store your tent 100% dry When dealing with fungus, use a soft brush or sponge and a lot of fresh water. Only use specialised tent cleaning products to remove difficult stains as other chemical products can cause the cotton to leak. We suggest you have your tent re-impregnated with waterproofer if any area has been cleaned using a cleaning product. Leaking Cotton can, when new, let some air through and leak around the seams. After the canvas has been wet once this will no longer happen because of the cotton expanding. Very light stains can appear on a wet tent – these stains cause no problems. In order to preserve your tents water resistance and prolong its lifespan after a considerable amount of use, the outside of the canvas can be re-treated with a sealant. There are many good spray can sealants on the market, and we also sell re-proofer. Zippers Zippers sometimes have to endure extreme tension caused by wind, incorrect tent set up or pressure caused by people or objects leaning into the tent. Note: Pictures is of our old model 10×10 and it is not a good picture – uploading more as soon as the weather gets better here! 10 ft wide, slightly under 15ft long, 7.5ft peak and 5 foot side walls. This thing is HUGE inside! Natural white cotton canvas with water-repellent 15 ounce weight canvas. Doors on BOTH ends with double ties and overlap to keep out nasty weather. Hand sewn top grommets are super heavy duty. This tent includes the canvas only , as most people prefer to make their own poles and stakes and such. It is not fire-retardant , and there is no floor or mud flaps at the bottom of the walls. We cannot add stove holes or mud flaps, as we are just too busy right now. UV resistant and stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Lasts longer, is stronger, lighter and more mildew resistant than cotton canvas. 4 Windows – 2 on each side wall. Velcro ties on door. Reinforcements along the ridgeline and all key stress areas. Weighs roughly 50lbs. This tent does not include frame, poles, stove jack, or sod cloth.
