Such an awesome tent. I just don’t use it so much now. I used it for about a month on the Pacific Crest Trail so it does have a little wear, mainly on the bug net and that is easily repairable. Still totally waterproof and the zipper works! If you have any questions let me know! I made this tarp. It is made from 4 pieces of material all taped together. The seams were formed by using 3m double sided adhesive to bond each section together and then covering each joint with 1 wide dyneema tape making an increadibly strong bond. The edges were taped also with all corners and tieout connection points reinforced. The only sewing is at the timeouts making it stronger. There are some strategically placed reinforcements for some timeouts to be placed later or for one to prob a trekking pole to increase stability in the wind. The four corners and four center points have linelocs. There are 4 more tieoffs along the long sides (2 on each side at 2.5 and 7.5ft). It has been tested in high winds and shed them well. 87oz with the included line used to set it up. I like this size. It is a palace for one while being a little lighter due to the decreased width from a standard 10×8 and has plenty length for someone 6ft or taller. You can squeeze in another too. I did the trip and took the tarp, but the shelters were so nice that I really didn’t use the tarp at all. The previous owner didn’t use it much either. The tarp is in pristine as-new condition. No holes, no wear marks, not even dirty. Neither of these were included when I bought the tarp. Just the tarp and the guylines. It finally stopped raining in Virginia, so I added photos of the tarp pitched in my back yard. The tent performed outstandingly well on thru-hikes of the Appalachian Trail and Mountain to Sea Trail and is in what I consider good condition. However, please remember that this is a used tent and has been used with hiking for approximately 5,000 miles and 300 uses. I have repaired a small hole in the corner with cuben fiber seam tape. The tent has always been used on a Tyvek ground sheet. Trekking poles are required for setup, and are not included. It takes about 10 minutes to pitch once you become accustomed to the setup. It is also important to note that cuben fiber does not stretch taut like silnylon and other more common tent fabrics, which is simply the nature of the material. The tent specifications are below as provided by HMG. Hyperlite Mountain Gear expanded a niche in the ultralight shelter category they created an ultralight modular shelter system in which the components can be used separately or together. The components are: a catenary tarp, a mesh insert, and a front beak. The complete shelter adds up to a well-ventilated double-wall tent with full weather protection, or you can use the mesh insert or tarp separately when conditions allow. And HMG went to the extreme on the materials Cuben Fiber so these shelters are extremely light. The Echo I (one person) weighs just 23.6 ounces (669 g), and the Echo II (two people) weighs 29.9 ounces (848 g), with guylines but without stakes. Hyperlite Mountain Gear Echo I. Three-season, one-person, non-freestanding shelter with floor, front entry with vestibule. Tarp, mesh insert, front beak, guylines, storage bag. Tarp and beak are Cuben Fiber CF8 0.78 oz/yd. ; insert side panels are CF8, floor is Cuben Fiber CF15 1.48 oz/yd. , canopy is no-see-um mesh. Adjustable trekking poles required, stakes not included. 82 in (208 cm) long x 32 in (81 cm) wide at head end x 20 in (51 cm) wide at foot end, front height 38 in (97 cm). Modular design, lightweight fabrics, catenary ridgeline and Spectra core guylines with line-locks on tarp, full-width zippered entry door on insert, full-height water-resistant zipper with two pulls on beak. Echo I: 12 in x 10 in x 3 in (30 x 25 x 8 cm). Echo I measured weight 23.7 oz (672 g). Echo I 22.9 oz (649 g). Echo I floor area 18 ft. , vestibule area 6.1 ft. , total protected area 24.1 ft. Protected Area/Trail Weight Ratio. Echo I 16.85 ft. /lb 3.45 m. This is a full-fledged Cuben Fiber catenary tarp with fully bonded and reinforced ridgeline and tieouts. HMG uses a stronger weight of Cuben Fiber (CF8), which is 0.78 oz/yd2 (26.4 g/m2). The Echo 1 Tarp provides 51 ft2 (4.74 m2) of protected area and weighs 8.1 ounces (230 g, measured weight) with guylines. The mesh insert has elastic cords (three at each end) that connect to rings on the tarp. Its easy to install after the tarp is set up, or it can be left connected and set up as a unit. The lower sidewalls are Cuben Fiber CF8 and the bathtub floor is heavier Cuben Fiber CF15 (1.48 oz/yd2/50.2 g/m2) for extra durability. The Echo I insert weighs 11 ounces (312 g, measured) and provides 18 ft2 (1.67 m2) of floor area. The front beak provides a vestibule-protected entry for the shelter. Its also made of Cuben Fiber CF8 and has a full-height water-resistant zipper with two pulls. The weight is 3.9 ounces (111 g, measured) for the Echo I. There are five useful configurations possible with the Echo shelter system. Tarp plus Front Beak. Tarp plus Mesh Insert. Tarp plus Mesh Insert plus Front Beak. I have bought this setup for going solo, however I now have a partner and need to sell this unused Ultralight tent. This is a steal! ZPacks Hexamid Solo-Plus Tent. The Hexamid Solo-Plus is a palace for one average sized hiker plus gear, or a good fit for an above average height person. It is large enough to occasionally squeeze in a partner. It has fully enclosed screen, a detachable bathtub floor for versatility, and storm doors for 360° rain protection. Sets up with just one trekking pole or walking stick adjusted to around 52 inches (132 cm), and a minimum of six stakes. Ten stakes are recommended on this tent for additional head room and wind resistance. Is available if you don’t use trekking poles. Watch the Hexamid Solo-Plus Setup Video. Lots of space for one person plus gear, or space to squeeze in a partner on occasion. The tent is long enough for most people to fully stretch out their arms and legs, and tall enough for two average height people to sit upright. A 6 foot tall person would have over 18.5 (47 cm) of vertical height at the end of their head and feet (more factoring in the extra lift from the end guy lines). A pair of storm doors protect the front of the tent from rain spray. The doors overlap in front, you never have to worry about a broken zipper. They clip down to the front center guy line, or roll up out of the way. Leave one or both doors open for air flow when the weather allows it. You can also use the doors for vestibule space. Great ventilation, and a great view through the large screen entryway. 6 (15 cm) of screen around the perimeter allows air flow. The bathtub floor is set back from the screen walls. You can leave both storm doors open in the rain for air flow, unless spray is blowing directly at the front of the tent. Our Hexamid tents are unique in that they have a fully enclosed screen floor which keeps 100% of insects, spiders, ticks, etc out! You will need a separate waterproof bathtub floor on the inside, on top of the screen, just like sleeping under a tarp. Keeping it separate from the tent offers the following advantages. Our Cuben Fiber Bathtub Floor. Works great, but alternatively you can use a Poncho. To double as rain gear, a Bivy. Or inexpensive material like Tyvek. To save on cost. On nice nights you can take your separate floor out and sleep under the stars or on the ground under a shelter. If rain is blowing hard at one side of the tent, you can fold or shift your floor away from any spray. Rain spray or condensation runs harmlessly out the screen floor. You can set your wet shoes, wet pack, and clothes on the screen, while keeping your bathtub floor dry. You can take out your bathtub floor to dry the tent off faster. If the tent is wet you can pack your dry floor separate. Normally the floor stays clipped in place and packs up with the tent. You don’t ever have to take it out except when you want to! Each inside corner of the tent has a loop and clip for attaching your bathtub floor. The peak also has a loop on the inside for hanging a flashlight or stuff sack. All of our tents do pretty well in the wind. The material can handle high wind loads. As long as your stakes stay in the ground (use rocks if available) your tent will stay standing. Cuben Fiber is not a particularly noisy fabric, however almost any tent will make a little noise in the wind. Ear plugs are not a bad idea for windy nights. Cuben Fiber is semi-transparent. In bright sunlight you can see a fuzzy silhouette of a person sitting inside the tent. You cannot see any details and it has a suitable amount of privacy for changing clothes etc. In lower light (such as in the evening or at night) you cannot see through at all. We also have thicker, darker material available as an upgrade below. One nice thing about Cuben Fiber is you can also see the outlines of trees and your surroundings for a more connected outdoor experience. The expected life span of this shelter is at least one full 2500+ mile thru hike, or many years of casual use with some care. For more info check out the Tent FAQs. Our tents are made from. 51 oz/sqyd (17.4 g/m²) Cuben Fiber material. Cuben Fiber has several advantages over other materials. Cuben Fiber has a very high strength to weight ratio. The material can handle high wind force and does not tear easily. Cuben Fiber is waterproof. Cuben Fiber is made from Dyneema threads which do not stretch. The tent stays taut all night. Nylon material by comparison can stretch and sag, especially if it gets wet. Tape sticks well to it. Any damage can easily be fixed in the field with our Cuben Fiber Repair Tape. The seams are stitched and then taped taped water tight. The tie outs have bonded reinforcements for high strength. No seam sealing necessary! This tent has fully enclosed. 7 oz/sqyd (24 g/m²) insect screen. The holes in this screen are super tiny, even the smallest insects cannot get through. Our tent screen is about 30% lighter than comparable Noseeum screen with no noticeable decrease in durability. The screen floor holds up surprisingly well. As long as you are a little careful to move pointy things from your tent site you are unlikely to get any damage. If it did get a puncture it would be under your solid bathtub floor where it wouldn’t affect the performance of the tent. The separate (optional) bathtub floor is made from 1.0 oz/sqyd Cuben Fiber. This material weight is more than twice as thick as the canopy material and is more resistant to abrasion and punctures. As with all Cuben Fiber it is easy to patch with tape. Bright Yellow 1.25 mm Spectra Z-Line cord is included for guy lines (uncut). This cord is very strong, tangle resistant, and doesn’t stretch so it gives you a tight pitch. Yellow is easy to see day or night. We recommend fixed length guy lines for the easiest set up with no knots or adjustment necessary. Some customers choose to add Linelocs. Peak Height: 51 inches (130 cm). Length: 9 feet (2.75 meters). Width at center: 62 inches (158 cm). Width at ends: 42 inches (107 cm). Entryway Height: 29 inches (74 cm). Vestibule Depth: About 12 inches (30 cm). Floor Dimensions (Assuming a Solo-Plus Cuben Fiber Bathtub Floor is used). Width at center: 42 inches (107 cm). Width at ends: 28 inches (71 cm). Length: 7 feet (2.13 m). Bathtub wall height: 5-6 inches (15 cm). Note that you also have additional space around the perimeter of the bathtub floor for gear. Note that a Twin Floor. Also fits well in this tent for more space, and would be necessary to fit in a second person. A Hexamid Solo-Plus Tarp including taped seams and Storm Doors weighs 7.0 ounces (198 grams). Spectra guy lines add. 6 oz (17 grams). A medium 6″ x 12″ stuff sack adds. 3 ounces (8 grams). Six elastic bands and clips to attach your bathtub floor to the shelter are included. 5 ounces (14 grams). Fully enclosed bug screen adds 5.8 ounces (164 grams). A detachable Solo-Plus Cuben Fiber Bathtub Floor adds 3.5 ounces (99 grams). The Total Weight for the tent including all of the above is 17.7 ounces (502 grams). 10x Stakes are required but are not included. We have a variety of Ultralight Stakes. These weights are as accurate as possible. Many other manufacturers leave out seam sealing, lines, stuff sack, stakes, ground sheet etc from their weights. The item “ZPAcks Hexamid Solo-Plus Tent and $30 carbon fiber pole and UL stakes” is in sale since Friday, April 01, 2016. This item is in the category “Sporting Goods\Outdoor Sports\Camping & Hiking\Tents & Canopies\Tents”. The seller is “imaginationicon” and is located in Greendale, Wisconsin.
